The Purpose of this listing:
If you’re new to the region or just passing thru, it’s not so easy to find an accurate, current listing whats happening anywhere musically. There are dozens of separate Facebook pages centering on all of the little communities, counties and big cities. Everyone is posting randomly, and at scattered times so that their posts are instantly gone from your feed, unless you happen to be online & on your page at the exact right time something is being posted. If not, you have to go digging through all the miscellaneous groups you may have joined looking for updates. You can end up in a group with a name like ‘London Open Mics’ and search for 20 minutes for clubs near you, only to find after digging in that the group is for London England, or any one of 13 other cities & villages called London. It would be great if every group actually said what country or continent they are in, right in their group’s name. It can be a real pain to search around on FB, and so I made my own list to drastically speed up my decision making. Also, I have absolutely NOTHING happening in my immediate area, and have to drive at least 40 Kms in any direction to find any live music at all, most nights. (I currently live in the most BORING town I’ve ever lived in)
And so, this is a listing of any re-curring music events that I am always searching for, to go out & play a few songs. I’m not about to start trying to keep up with band bookings, or venues that have different shows going on every night. These are all Open Mics, Jams, or some kind of Karaoke events that are happening weekly, bi-weekly or at least at some regular interval that I can count on happening in the areas that I travel to.
So, here’s my shortlist of what I’ve found so far in the region, mostly within an hour or so of the graveyard called T-burg. I will continue to expand the list and add more towns & cities as I can. If it’s not listed here, let me know who/what you’re searching for please …
